- Amara has spent her career reporting on restaurant openings and international culinary events from London to Mexico City.
- She loves learning about holistic and locally grown ingredients and herbs and has taken tours in Guatemala and Costa Rica to learn more about making healthy and nourishing dishes.
- Her favorite thing about traveling is discovering top-tier gluten-free and plant-based food around the world — so far, Jamaica is an undefeated destination.
Experience
As a travel journalist and content writer, Amara has written for international publications and brands and interviewed chefs, restaurant owners, entrepreneurs, and globetrotting foodies. Her wanderlust led her to appreciate countries through their culture, food, people, and new experiences. Her Jamaican upbringing in London allowed her to experience the richness of her culture primarily through food while being spoiled for choice in a big city of endless food options. Besides Caribbean cuisine, Indian and Ethiopian cooking will always rank highly for Amara. One of the best recipes she has picked up and replicated wherever she finds herself is patacones (or tostones), which takes her love of plantain to the next level.
Education
Amara graduated from the University of Birmingham with a B.A. in English literature.
