Miss The Supreme Pizza From The Costco Food Court? This Is What Customers Are Doing To Fill The Void

Costco's old Supreme-style Combo pizza has been gone from U.S. food courts since 2020, but some customers clearly haven't moved on. One surprisingly simple workaround is hiding right at the food court: chopped onions. In a recent Reddit thread, shoppers piled the onions offered for hot dogs onto slices of Costco cheese pizza, with several commenters immediately connecting the hack to the discontinued Combo pie. Availability can vary by warehouse, but if your location has the little cups of diced onion, all it takes is scattering some over a hot slice.

It's not exactly a resurrection of the original, though. Costco's discontinued Combo pizza was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, red onion, green bell pepper, black olives, and mushrooms, so onions alone only restore one piece of the puzzle. Still, their sharp, slightly sweet bite gives an otherwise straightforward cheese slice more contrast, while the raw crunch adds a texture the plain pie doesn't have. For anyone who misses the vegetable-heavy side of the old Supreme-style pizza, it's about the easiest food-court approximation you can make without bringing ingredients from home. And if one topping isn't enough to scratch the Combo pizza itch, there are ways to get much closer.

How to get closer to Costco's old Supreme pizza

If you're willing to finish the job at home, start with Costco's pepperoni pizza instead of cheese, and build from there. Add cooked Italian sausage, sliced mushrooms, chopped green bell pepper, black olives, and onion, and you've essentially recreated the topping lineup that made the original Combo so loaded. This also gives you control over how much of each topping goes on, whether you mostly miss the veggies or want the full meat-and-vegetable situation.

Taking the pizza home also solves the obvious problem with piling cold toppings onto a finished slice. Chowhound's hack for upgrading Costco food court pizza at home recommends adding your extras and returning the pie to a 350- to 375-degree Fahrenheit oven for a few minutes, which gives everything a chance to warm through while crisping the crust again. You can also pick up pizza-night ingredients during the same Costco run if you're working with a whole pie. It's admittedly more effort than grabbing a cup of onions at the food court, but until the old Supreme-style Combo makes a comeback, customers may have to keep improvising.
