Burger King's Own President Refuses To Eat This Menu Item

Do you remember that video of the McDonald's CEO eating the chain's new Big Arch burger? It went viral in early 2026, and for all the wrong reasons. In the clip, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski takes a not-so-eager taste of his burger, an awkward moment that led to (as almost all viral moments do) much online discourse over the disconnect between corporate bigwigs and the products that they peddle. Is their dedication to the product actually built on experience? Well, there's one corporate executive who seems to actually know and care about his company' products. Tom Curtis, the president of Burger King, gave The New York Post some insight into his favorite and least favorite Burger King menu items, and he wasn't afraid to really tear into the item that he views as lagging behind the rest.

So what is Curtis' least favorite dish at Burger King? None other than the chain's chicken nuggets, and we can't help but agree. Burger King's nuggets didn't rank particularly well in our evaluation of fast food chicken nuggets. Of the chain's nuggets, Curtis said, "I want a meatier, crispier nugget and sauces that make my taste buds dance." Apparently, Curtis isn't one to simply leave things as they are. He said, "We can do better, and we will." And this doesn't seem to have been an empty promise, considering the fact that the chain introduced new and improved nuggets on September 1, 2026, only about two months after Curtis let his qualms be known.

Now, Tom Curtis' subpar opinion on Burger King's chicken nuggets isn't all that unexpected. Burger King is, and always has been, a burger-forward restaurant. Still, Burger King's nuggets have held a less-than-stellar reputation when compared to the chain's other chicken items. One TikTok reviewer even ranked BK's nuggets worse than bagged, frozen ones. One commenter on the particularly scathing review noted that their toddler turned up their nose at the chain's nuggets. Why, you may ask? Well, the old nuggets simply lacked flavor or any sort of crispy texture. Instead, diners were served soggy, cold, and flavorless hunks of chicken. And Curtis couldn't help but agree. But those were the old Burger King chicken nuggets. What about the new ones? 

The new nuggets are 100% white meat, with a more flavorsome marinade and crispy breading. They are also packed in a box rather than a paper bag, and are served with a new limited-time dipping sauce, the Special Savory Sauce (that might just give Burger King's standard sauce lineup a run for its money). This sounds, lovely, of course. But how are diners feeling about the new nuggets? Well, pretty darn good, as it turns out.

Reviews say the chain's new nuggets have a better crispiness to them and the meat is more moist. One commenter on the chain's Facebook page wrote that Burger King's "nuggets went from -2 to a solid 7, appreciate you listening to your customers." That's some solid improvement. All that's left is to get Tom Curtis' updated opinion on this — are the nuggets still his least favorite Burger King dish?
