The Salty Seasonal Aldi Dip I Wish Would Make A Comeback
Aldi giveth and Aldi taketh away. I never thought that I would be on the receiving end of Aldi's cruel approach to cycling through products — under the guide of its mantra, "Here today, gone tomorrow" — until I met what I consider to be one of the best products the brand has released: the Park Street Deli garlic feta dip. I ran into this refrigerator aisle bombshell in the summer of 2025 and liked what I saw. I imagined it would taste like toum — a Lebanese garlic sauce — but with salty feta. However, it bypassed all of my expectations, and none of Aldi's store-bought dips could ever come close to it.
This dip had a creamy, yogurt-like base that was not overwhelmingly tangy nor acidic. The cream was the perfect base for the feta cheese, which was crumbled inside the container. The cheese offered a delectably salty, briny, and balanced taste to offset the yogurt's richness. Garlic was present, sure, but it wasn't as sharp as minced garlic. There was nothing biting or abrasive about this dip; everything worked in perfectly engineered food harmony.
Buying this dip was like a race against time; I saw the limited-edition note on the label, so I knew I had to stock up when I could. The only problem? I could eat a whole container in a single sitting. So that summer, I was buying four containers of garlic feta dip at a time — and I don't care what kind of judgment that incurred from staff. It was worth it every single time.
Personally victimized by 'Here today, gone tomorrow'
When I saw that one Redditor called this dip, "One of the best things I have ever put in my mouth," I felt that. I also felt every ounce of pain when my Aldi decided to spite me and strip it from the shelves. I have not seen it reappear since late summer 2025, and I have mourned the loss of it every single time I walk past the dip section of my local store. It also sold an original feta dip and a red pepper feta dip, but I was loyal to the garlic version through and through.
Now, I have tried to find ways to imitate this dip, including trying whipped feta dip and Trader Joe's rendition of feta dip (and even trying to stir in toum to see if it would help), but I have come up empty-handed every single time. I have not found a way to mimic the same richness and balanced saltiness that my beloved garlic feta dip, which I ate by the spoon, offered.
Aldi, if you're listening: I get it. I get that you have to rotate through products and make room for seasonal offerings, but I would sacrifice every single holiday coffee creamer, most of your cheeses, and honestly, half of the products your store sells just to get this dip back. Please: It's what the people want.
