Chick-fil-A is well known for its delicious chicken sandwiches, and deservedly so. The fast food chain has plenty of good sides as well, including its side salad with avocado lime ranch dressing and those classic waffle fries. With all these delicious savory dishes, some of Chick-fil-A's desserts can get overlooked, especially when it comes to milkshakes, but the truth is Chick-fil-A serves some really tasty ones.

When we ranked five of Chick-fil-A's milkshakes from worst to best, our favorite was the vanilla milkshake, the foundation for all of Chick-fil-A's shakes. Some restaurants try way too hard with their shakes — as evidenced by Chick-fil-A's s'mores milkshake, an artificial-tasting sugar bomb catastrophe – but Chick-fil-A's straightforward vanilla shake doesn't fit that bill. It has a refreshing floral vanilla and sweet cream flavor and the smooth, rich, and creamy texture is a pure delight. Plus, it doesn't feel overloaded with unnatural, artificial ingredients. Simply put, the vanilla milkshake at this chain is everything you expect from a top-tier shake, and an elite sweet treat.

Chick-fil-A's vanilla milkshake is an elite option

The Chick-fil-A sandwich is not overcomplicated or fussy, and no doubt an elite option. The same can be said for its vanilla milkshake. All of Chick-fil-A's shakes are hand-spun, use Chick-fil-A's famous Icedream dessert, and are topped with whipped cream and a cherry. The vanilla milkshake gets a lot of love from online reviewers for its classic flavors. Some other professional reviewers rank it high as well, while also giving love to the cookies and cream and seasonal peach offerings.

While we thought the vanilla milkshake was the best, we also appreciated Chick-fil-A's strawberry and cookies and cream milkshakes. Both of these were tasty, and pair well with any chicken sandwich order. After all, there's nothing like a good sweet treat once you finish a savory entree. That said, as mentioned earlier, stay away from Chick-fil-A's s'more's milkshake. It sounds amazing at first, but falls short in execution — unless you enjoy too much sweetness combined with a fake marshmallow flavor. Chick-fil-A might not have all the milkshake flavors you find from spots such as Dairy Queen or Sonic, but it delivers on the limited amount it offers. Don't miss out the next time you're craving something sweet at Chick-fil-A to pair with your tasty chicken sandwich.
