This Costco Bakery Dessert Dropped Just In Time To Kick Off Spring

Spring is in the air or, at the very least, on the shelves at Costco. Not only has the beloved wholesale club just put its fan-favorite (and-Easter ready) carrot cake back on shelves as of March 2026, it also has a new, bright springtime treat in its bakery section: lemon custard pie. The new citrus flavored dessert, which was shared on the Instagram account @costcobuys, features a creamy, lemon custard base with a border of whipped topping and a perfectly delicious and flaky pie crust to round it out.

Each pie is priced at $18.99, which is rather hefty, especially compared to the retailer's super cheap pumpkin pies. Then again, so are Costco's baked goods, so perhaps the price point is reasonable, considering the large portion sizes. This dessert is the perfect choice for the season, bringing a touch of zingy lemon taste that will fit perfectly into Easter celebrations, warm weather gatherings, or as a dessert to top off a veggie-rich, garden plucked dinner. Plus, it's a great counterpart to the wholesale club's other spring desserts, such as its super rich, cream-cheese-iced mini carrot cakes. This pie looks to be yet another winner for the Costco bakery (though there are a few items you really ought to skip).

How the pie holds up

While this pie is still new to Costco shelves, it seems to be making quite the impression online. Many people across social media platforms such as TikTok have made their way to the wholesaler to try a slice. The consensus has been overwhelmingly positive. Many reviewers have praised the pie for its smooth, thick, and, well, custard-y filling. According to reviews, it's sweet but not cloyingly so, and the lemon flavor isn't too sharp. Rather, it adds just the right amount of zest to give it a lemon-y edge. The crust is a buttery and flaky, as opposed to the graham cracker crust used in many lemon custard pies.

As to whether this pie will become a long-running Costco favorite, only time will tell. However, it might just prove to be stiff competition for other grocery store citrus pies, such as the iconic toasted almond topped Publix key lime pie, which has a dedicated cult following of its own. Curious as to where it will stand in your own pie ranking? Head over to Costco and grab a pie for yourself (and 12 of your closest pals, as this pie weighs around 4 pounds).
