Campbell's Debuts Grilled Cheese Flavored Tomato Soup

National Grilled Cheese Day is quickly approaching — and Campbell's has the perfect way to celebrate the comfort food's commemorative holiday on April 12. According to a press release, the staple soup brand is releasing a small batch of its first limited-edition flavor: Campbell's Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. Naturally, nothing goes better with a gooey grilled cheese than a bowl of tomato soup, except for maybe a tomato soup flavored like the delicious, nostalgic sandwich itself.

While Campbell's plans to sell the limited-edition flavor at select grocery stores soon according to its website, it's still unclear when and where exactly you'll have to shop to snag a can. For now, the best way to get your hands on Campbell's Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup is through a limited-time sweepstakes event in which the company is giving away a total of 412 cans to lucky entrants. From now until March 20, 2024, you can enter here for a chance to win a free two-pack of the comforting canned soup. With some luck, soup lovers can savor the best of both worlds with a meal that doubles down on toasty, tomatoey flavors. Whether you win or not, April 12 is a great occasion to make a perfect, evenly melted grilled cheese

Campbell's first limited-edition soup flavor ever and the limited-edition cans that precede it

The Campbell's Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup marks the company's first limited-edition flavor ever and the decision makes a bowl-load of sense. Vice President of Marketing of Soups & Broths Gary Mazur, said in Campbell's press release, "Nothing can top the greatness of a grilled cheese sandwich dunked in Campbell's Tomato soup. As we developed our first ever limited-time only condensed flavor, it was the clear choice." After all, no one's come up with a better soup-and-sandwich pairing, though a steak sandwich dipped in French onion soup with an evenly torched top is a tasty runner-up. Here's to hoping the company will cook up more special flavors.

After all, while this is the soup company's first foray into limited-edition flavors, Campbell's is no stranger to seizing the opportunity for special-looking soup cans. Currently, Campbell's sells various canned soups with Disney princesses from Mulan to Cinderella smiling on the labels, an exciting, eye-catching series of cans catered to kids. And, in 2021, Campbell's Canada appealed to art aficionados with a campaign of limited-edition cans inspired by Andy Warhol's pop art. While Warhol's famous canvas paintings of the red-and-white soup cans imitated the company's signature packaging, Campbell's homage to the writer featured brightly colored cans in pink, orange, yellow, green, and blue hues. Food imitates art and art imitates life — or so the saying sort of goes. Or, in the case of Campbell's Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, food imitates other food.
