  • 1/2 ounce Swedish Punch
  • 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

John Gertsen, bar manager of Drink in Boston, gave us the recipe for this vintage cocktail that’s sweet, smoky, and dry all at once.

What to buy: Swedish Punch (a.k.a. Caloric Punch, Caloric Punsch, Arak Punch, Arrack Punch, Arak Punsch, and Arrack Punsch) is a smoky Swedish liqueur with Batavia arrack as its base.

  1. 1Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add all ingredients and shake vigorously until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass.
