Restaurants & Bars

Tried Zucca on Castro St. in Mt. View. This is a recently upgraded spot, very modern, upscale place with a big bar in the front and seating on the street. The menu has both small and large entrees, though I could see little difference in size. My wife had pasta with mushrooms that I found a little bland. I had the Tuscan tomato soup that was outstanding and reminded me of the receipe in the Wed. food section of the Chron. I had the bass for an entree, not politically correct perhaps but in an excellent sauce with a dill topping that set it off nicely. I had the Spanish flan with cinnamon. The only criticism was a poorly seleted wine list.
