Zeke's BBQ Report

Susan H | May 19, 2003 11:29 AM

Went to Zeke's for lunch on Saturday. We got there around 12:30, and there was a reasonably short wait. They were out of baby backs, but we got the regular pork ribs and they were fabulous. Chicken wings were good but a bit overdone. We tried both sauces, but they tasted the same. The hot has slightly more zing (maybe) but is not really that hot. I like it that way -- you can always add more hot sauce if you need it.

The sides were mostly outstanding. The green beans were really garlicky and fresh-tasting. I thought the greens were too bland, but my husband loved them. The yams are the best ever, and my son loved the mashed potatoes (I didn't try them).

By the time we left at 1:30, the line was out the door. I would not recommend eating in -- the tables are OK but not well kept, there is a very limited drink selection, and there is a radio station blasting rap music much of the time. Most of the customers seem to be getting take-out - I think we were the only ones eating there. But it sure is great having excellent BBQ in the neighborhood.
