I met a Japanese-American lady in her 70s that highly recommended me to try Yuki Sushi, she said it reminded her of her mother's cooking.
Since she didn't tell me what dishes were her favorites I just ordered what sounded good. It's a small place with a sushi bar and about 8 tables. When we left at 7pm Sat. night there were many people waiting outside.
We started with hiya-yakko $3.25 (fresh tofu w/ condiments) Ben and I really liked it. It was light, very chilled, crunchy toppings was very tasty, and we added a bit of soy sauce. Very good.
Ben got the saba shio entree combination $13.75 which included soup, salad, and rice. Very fresh, just enough salt, very juicy and oily. Recommended.
I got some specialty rolls, all pretty good:
Jackie roll $4.75-scallops, shrimp, jalapeno sauce.
Bamboo roll $4.75-eel, cucumber, wrapped in avocado.
Omaha roll $4.75-umekyu & shiso wrapped in halibut. I thought this was too sour and wouldn't get this again.
toshi roll $4.95-tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado, cucumber.
massago-smelt roe $3.25
ikura-salmon roe $3.95
With tax and tip the bill (with no drinks) was $49 for two.
Anyone else been here?
