new Yucatecan menu in the Tenderloin at 637 Larkin San Francisco

zippo | May 6, 2008 07:04 PM

after an impressive lunch at Thai House Express on Larkin (98. Tofu Pad King * crispy tofu and sauteed a with chili pepper , ginger onions and black fungus, $6.50 over rice, ordered it spicy), headed south on the west side of Larkin to check on Sol de Mexico at 637 Larkin, which about a month ago became the successor to Sultan Kebab, apparently with the same owners. Instead of Sol's standard menu of burritos, etc., there was a new menu up with panuchos, salbute, poc chuc, tamales and other Yucatecan dishes. Didn't see any indication of an ownership change but there might have been a name change on the outside awning. No paper menus were available and didn't have time to talk longer than a few seconds with the staff or to order anything. hoping one of the veterans of Melanie's wonderful Yucatecan adventure of a few months ago will check this place out.

here's a link to the thread about the change from Turkish to Mexican at this spot:
