On my way back from Anderson Valley today, I stopped at Yorkville Market. It seems to have new management and has been gussied up considerably since the last time I passed through here. Even late in the day, it had some good-looking baked goods and a deli menu with specialty sandwiches, grab-and-go salads, breakfast, etc. There are a couple booths inside and more seating outdoors. Oh, and a wine tasting bar too.
Wifi was not working today. The booths have electrical outlets, including USB slots. This could be a good rest stop (nice and clean restroom) or a place to get picnic provisions on the way to the wineries in Yorkville Highlands or Anderson Valley.
The find for me here is the scooping station with eight flavors of Cowlick's ice cream from Fort Bragg. No candy cap mushroom flavor, but certainly enough to choice to keep me happy. I had a single scoop of raspberry chocolate chunk and mocha almond fudge. No problem getting two flavors for a single size. And when I told the counter lady that I would have it there, she presented it in a red Fiestaware dish along with a metal spoon. It does make the ice cream taste better not eating it out of disposables. I spotted a milkshake mixer on the back counter, so make some ice cream parlour specialties are available too.
When I visited Cowlick's three years ago, it was getting ready to change its ice cream base to one that uses eggs and is more natural. The ice cream seemed denser and less sweet than I remember and had left none of the plasticky coating on the tongue. This was an improvement.
