Yoko's, Formerly Suzuyou - San Mateo

I am happy to report that Yoko's on 2nd & Delaware in downtown San Mateo (formerly Suzuyou) has Suzuyou's chef in tow and has only gone through a change in ownership. The menu is basically the same and the food is great as usual -- homecooking-style Japanese. They do serve some sushi and sashimi, but there is no sushi bar. We've been twice for dinner now and the place isn't crowded at all. Highly recommended. Tonight I had the special of chicken tatsutage and hamachi -- wonderful, succulent chicken and melt-in-your-mouth hamachi. Dinners come with two servings of tsukemono (a rarity in most Japanese restaurants these days), miso soup, and rice. Complimentary orange slices come at the end of the meal. Prices are reasonable and their nabe's (eg - yosenabe and chicken mizutaki) are especially good.
