My husband belongs to a group of woodworkers. I've just learned that we (read: I) am to supply the mid-meeting snack for tomorrow's meeting. They always have cookies or something sweet. For a lot of reasons, I'm not leaving the house today and tomorrow is filled with "must-do" appointments, etc. so the cookies must be made today with ingredients on hand. So far so good, except that I do not have any butter in the house! I never have margarine, so there isn't any of that either but I do have some zero trans fat Crisco and a lot of cream cheese. All kinds of "normal" cookie ingredients are here, i.e. flour, sugar (brown & white) raisins, chocolate, nuts, jam, etc but I am completely stumped except for making meringues which was not a hit when suggested.
I'm hoping there's a creative "substitution wizard" out there someplace who has the answer. Fingers crossed, hounds, I'm counting on you-all.
