Has anyone found a great place for white truffles in Manhattan? About eight years ago I had potato ravioli at Arqua with butter and unbelievable white truffles. Somehow they sliced the truffles too thick and too generous...and well, I've never enjoyed a truffle dish again. Sure they've tasted good, but not amazing, and they've always seemed like an extravagant bad value. If I am paying an obscene amount for a dish, I expect it to be obscenely good.
Thin wisps of bland truffle just don't cut it. I want the flavor and the texture. And no truffle oil, please! After my epiphany at Arqua, I tried truffle topped pastas at Babbo, Il Cantinori and a few places in midtown (of course I tried to repeat my success at Arqua too). But never again did I find that real truffle nirvana.
Anyone had an unbelievable white truffle pasta dish this year in Manhattan?
