Truly wonderful meal at Circa (Northampton)!

I went to Circa last night for an anniversary dinner and had such a beautiful meal.
The chef has restructured the menu, adding a variety of warm and cold small plates to the entrees.

Here is what we ordered, all from the small plates section:

Hungry Ghost (a local bakery that makes some of the best bread i've tasted) bread
with blended butter and olive oil
Seared scallops w. bacon and pea shoots
Mussels with chilies, garlic, and white wine
Polenta fries with a smoky tomato sauce
Beet salad w. walnut brittle and chevre

Everything was delicious, but the spicy mussels stood out as did the perfectly smoky sauce for the polenta fries.

We ended with a lemon grass creme brulee that was amazing. The lemon grass crept up on you after every bite and was a such a delicate and delicious combination with the cream.

It was the perfect amount of food. We each spent $40 including tip and 3 glasses of a great
Zinfandel.

They are also doing a Cookbook series there. I forget the other books, but this Sunday is Babbo and after that they'll be doing dishes from the Arrows restaurant in Maine.
