Well, no, it's not coming... it was today, noon to 4 at the Ramada Inn on Public Square. $3, all the wings I could handle, 17 different competitors vying for "best wings in Wilkes-Barre". I strongly suspect that the actual best wings weren't there. Most of the competitors had variations on the Tabasco & butter theme, which of course is pretty dang good, but not good enough to for more than "3" on a scale of 1 to 5. I think I gave out 13 "3"s, 2 "4"s, 1 "5" and 1 "2" (Damon's, which were still pretty good). The "4"s were the garlicky wings from Dougherty's Pub and the hot wings from The Grotto. The "5", and IMO the best wings at the competition, were Mimmo's. They were marinated in something like a mild teriyaki sauce (but not as sweet or salty) sprinkled with rosemary, then slow-baked; the sauce was a sweet chile sauce. Very distinctive, and easily head and shoulders over everything else.
I don't eat a lot of wings, I hear they're really really bad for you; I guess this was my yearly encounter with wings. Cool. I could do this once a year, easy.
