So had dinner and drinks with my gf on friday...we were originally planning on eating at spotted pig, which i love, but the wait was too long, so we headed down the block to White Horse on Hudson. It's a typical bar / pub type place with a pretty large outdoor seating area...it was packed and people were eating so we decided to try it. Now, I think this place maybe more of a bar than a gastropub type place, but alot of people were eating...so i guess you could give them some leeway.
We had a few beers, which were perfectly fine. The food on the other hand was pretty bad:
- Cheese burger and fries: the cheese burger was way overcooked, so it just made it sort of non-edible and the fries were those big fat fries and they were fine, but nothing to write home about
- Shepard's Pie: I asked the lady later and she told me they don't actually make it on the premise, but get it from some english specialty store (i guess this explains alot) and i just thought it was plain and uninspiring...kind of on the small side as well
- Buffalo wings: these were fine, a bit small, but fresh and fried (i hate when they are all soggy)
would go back to drink beers, but thats about it
