For years now, my husband has picked up bananas at Costco that are green. Gradually, over the course of several days, they begin to turn yellow and ripen. Lately, however, they don't turn yellow. They stay green, and get very, very ripe and mushy (not my favorite banana condition) very quickly, and never look like they've ripened at all. They are so mushy, that they will break in half as you peel them. They have some brown spots on them, but the banana is essentially still green.

Has anyone else noticed this happening with bananas lately?
