The Boston Globe has a singularly uninformative puff-piece about the opening of Wegmans.
It would have been more helpful if they gave less attention to the people and more attention to the products, but that is typical journalism.
They also failed to provide an address or a phone number. The Wegmans website for Northborough is still incomplete,
I could not find a phone number for the Northborough store, but I did find an address:
9102 Shops Way, Northborough, MA 01532 or in a format that makes more sense for getting map-internet-site directions, 9102 Shops Way, 01532.
I think I figured out how to get there from Boston-based points east,
Mass Pike West to 495 North to 9 West to 20/Southwest Cutoff(?) East to Shops Way (North/West)
Shops Way must be one of those corporate industrial scale mall roads that so disorient you that you are thrown into a shopping frenzy.
Since I do not know that part of the Commonwealth at all, I would be curious if someone with local knowledge could give my proposed directions a reality check.
As it happens I have to drive through that part of the Mass Pike on Sunday, the 16th, but I fear the frenzy on the first day will make the place a mad house. So I will wait till later in the week to scope it out.
Given my normal shopping alternatives, I wonder: Can the produce can better than Russo's, the fish better than Courthouse (in Cambridge), the Middle Eastern/Far Eastern specialties better than Arax/Super 88/HK or the prices better than most items at MB and (at least) some items at Costco?
One-stop may have a convenience, but that location for those who don't live nearby is not convenient.
It remains to be seen whether or not the hype will match the reality.
