Brief run-down of some of our eats!
The oft-described roast pork and marinated eggplant sub at Artu's, which I finally tried last month, is still garlicky and addictive and I now I know why everyone raves about their sandwiches!
G'vannis next door has a mundane Ceasar salad and weak dressing, but a nice Veal Milanese with Gorgonzola sauce. Not my fave NE restaurant, but I love a good Veal Milanese and would go back for this.
Stopped in Prezza one night for some of our favorites - corn raviolini with pancetta and rock shrimp, clam "chowder", fried oysters, and wood-grilled flat bread with chopped clams and lots of garlic.
Sunday night took some friends to Limoncello's which everyone enjoyed, especially the consistently good stuffed artichokes and the house specialty of pasta rosettes with Montasio cheese, and of course the wonderful service.
Later I had 'dessert' at Bricco's (where BTW they make an excellent Ultimat vodka Black Cherry cocktail with brandied cherries). Not a big sweets eater, I had the Burrata cheese appetizer (a creamy fresh cow's milk mozzarella which I first had at No. 9 and now am addicted to).
Were hoping to have some of Neptune's sea urchin ditalini carbonara somewhere along the way, but they were too busy. Mare also opened (Italian seafood from the Bricco/Umbria team), so will be checking that out tomorrow night. And then fasting for the next month...
