Hit up VooDoo Love on a tip I found from a fellow Chowhounder on Facebook. For the second time within a week, I scored excellent Shrimp & Grits in the Bay Area. This version was described as an etouffee on the menu and the sauce was darker and contained more creole spices than the more southern less NOLA version I had earlier in the week at Chef Gator's in Petaluma. The 6 large shrimp were plump and cooked perfectly, and the cheesy coarse-grained, slow-cooked grits really hit the spot.
The owner/chef was nice and came by to make sure everything was good. Unfortunately, the smartphone-occupied waitress left little to be desired.
