The former Victoria Dining (Mass Ave near the South Bay shopping center) has been bought by the owner of Mike's City Diner, renovated, menu-revamped, and renamed (slightly). We had breakfast yesterday, and while we liked Victoria, Victoria's is a nice upgrade all around.
It's much nicer looking, preserving the retro feel but providing a much-needed facelift and brightening to what was a tired and dark space. The menu is closely modelled on Mike's, also an upgrade. Prices are slightly better than, and portions nearly as huge as Mike's. The old staff has been retained: service is good but not butt-smooching. One big difference from Mike's is the free parking in back and across the street (and so far, freedom from long weekend lines).
They also serve dinner and have a full bar; we'll have to return to check that out soon. I'm looking forward to trying the $13 lamb shank plate.
