Recently I had venison at a NYC restaurant. It was my third time eating venision in the city. All three restaurants were pretty upscale. Each time I am disappointed because it does not taste like vension. It tastes like highly seasoned meat, and similar to beef. I am looking for vension similar to the I recall from my childhood growing up in a rural area where we went out and got vension from scratch, so to speak. I realize it is not deer season now, this is just on my mind because of this latest disappointing venision experience.
Maybe there is a butcher in town who keeps some real, pre-seasoned venision in the freezer? Maybe there will be a place at a farmers market during the fall that sells it?
