I made a resolution that I would try some vegetarian places this year in order to expand the places at which I eat.
However, I know the kind of stuff that turns me off in terms of the vegetarian places I've been to (too "crunchy"; to much focus on the politics as opposed to the food etc.) and I don't want to sabotage my first forays back into this.
So I'm looking for great vegetarian restaurants that could hold their own against the better restaurants on the city. Open to most neighborhoods. Want to focus on the food.
Also,a few questions
1) What should I be looking for in terms of menu, variety, freshness, taste etc.?
2) Do any places serve just vegetables made in great and innovative ways or do they all have some combination of tofu, tempeh, gluten, etc.?
3) I have tried Souen and Zen Palate - hate them.
4) Not a believer in the whole raw food craze but am open to suggestions on what to order at a raw food restaurant.
Thanks in advance.
