Union Square Sunday After Thanksgiving and DiFara's (Ari take note)

We have theater tickets, matinee, for the Sunday following Thanksgiving--2 teenage boys, parents, grandparents. Any thoughts for on-the-cheap, non-American? Haven't been to Japonica in years; does anyone know if Flor's Kitchen is open Sundays?

Also--I mentioned to my 14 year old that we should try DiFara's sometime (we live nearby, kind of). He casually mentioned that he'd been going for years. Good pizza, he said, great pizza. Mom, he said, the reason the pizza is so great is because the old guy who makes it, first he puts on a layer of cheese, then some olive oil, then more cheese. (That was the double cheese, I think, or extra cheese slice.) We went 2 weeks ago, just the 2 of us. Appetizers: double cheese and regular slice for him and artichoke for me. Both perfect. Then veal marinara. While we were eating the pizza, we heard ferocious pounding in the back--our veal being worked on? The veal, enormous serving, was very, very tender and smothered in marinara. Only drawback was that some of the garlic slices were a bit too brown--verging on bitter. A minor problem. We couldn't finish, took home the leftovers and served them with pasta to my other son. Dinner for 3, (2 root beers and 1 bottled water included) for $22.00.
