Uncle George's: mediocre

Simon | May 22, 2004 11:02 PM

We went wandering in Astoria and decided to try a different place from the two we've tried and liked in the past (S'Agapo and Stamatis). So we went to Uncle Georges pretty much at random.

Tzadziki was excellent (tons of garlic and cumumber). The Greek salad was mediocre at best (four small hard green olives instead of Kalamata's, and mushy tomatos). Marinated octopus was about a B+. The whole snapper was overcooked (C+).

Service was neutral to rude. The waiter seemed annoyed when we asked for plates, and he refused to recommend a type of fish.

Not terrible or anything, but not worth the tek to Astoria and we'd be very unlikely to return.
