Driving through Paso Robles a year ago, we just had to stop at a place called Twisted & Glazed, A Unique Donut Society. A combination deli, coffee house, bakery and donut shop, it had been open for about a year and a half at that point.
I loved seeing a variety of donut holes offered. Favorite turned out to be the churro donuts, dusted with cinnamon sugar. But that's not a slam on the regular raised-glazed nor the devil's food donut holes strung onto a skewer with fresh fruit as a donut kabob. And it's worth noting that the cream cheese frosting served alongside for dipping was wonderful, not as sugary and with a lilting tanginess.
The cinnamon roll donut was good too with a delicate crispness to the well-browned exterior. The baker's also working on perfecting a baked cinnamon roll that I'll need to return for.
Other offerings besides donuts include sandwiches, salads, lunch boxes, acai bowls, breakfast burritos, and rolled GELATO or vegan sorbet using a special formulation from local LeoLeo Gelato. Community-building and creative fervor are at the heart of Twisted and Glazed and I look forward to visiting again.
