Turkish pide (not pita)

Steph | Jun 8, 2004 11:24 AM

When I was traveling in Turkey, last year, I ate a wonderful peasant dish called "pide." Barely-risen chewy "flatbread" (like pita without the pocket) with a topping of chopped tomatoes, seasoned ground lamb, onions, and fresh herbs.

Is there *anywhere* in Manhattan to get this, or do I have to go searching in Queens?

PS. I checked at Gaia. The chef is willing to make it for me, but he says it's not his specialty. Apparently there are pide-makers and then there are impostors.
