The prior post about white truffle oil got me thinking about an article I read some time ago stating that all truffle oil is made with artificial flavorings. Is this true? I have a bottle of white truffle oil from Italy that pretty much tastes and smells like roasted garlic. It doesn't taste bad, but if it's typical of the genre, I also don't see what the big deal is about the stuff. Is this what it's supposed to taste/smell like? The only thing the lable says is Lutece, truffle oil from italy. I bought it in LA (n. hollywood)at the french food warehouse that had been mentioned on this site-can't think of the name of the place.
