Trip Report (Sept.)

Wow, what a great great trip. It was our first time back post K and we ate, ahh no stuffed ourselves with some really good food, Hated to leave and I'm still in a "culinary chowpression"

First stop was Cafe Du Monde for some Beignets and Cafe au Lait. I forgot how good they were. Next stop was one of my favorites, Mother's. I think Mother's is responsible for five of the ten pounds I put on. How can you resist a Ferdi with all that debris. Soo good. Of course, I had to have some jambalaya and finished off the W's shrimp po-boy. Love that place.

Next stop was Horinoya on poydras for an afternoon snack of snow crab rolls. W loves them and we can only find them in New Orleans.

Stuffed at this point and I didn't think we were going to make dinner at Vizard's. Glad we did because the food was outstanding. (jumbo lump crab meat app, pan seared redfish, pork chop) Really enjoyed the meal.

Day two- coffee, no more beignets...

I normally hit Acme for lunch but we decided to try Coop's place after reading some posts. It was the only slight disappointment on the trip. I went with Coop's Taste Plate which included a cup of Seafood Gumbo, Shrimp Creole, Cajun Fried Chicken, Red Beans & Rice with Sausage, and Rabbit & Sausage Jambalaya. It was good but I have had better.

No afternoon snack today. Just a daiquiri... Wanted to be in prime shape for dinner at Restaurant August.
We went to Restaurant August during a prior trip and were looking forward to going back. It exceeded my expectations. The service, room, wine and food were all top notch.
I went with the tasting menu with wine pairing and everything was perfect. Unfortunately, I do not recall each course but loved the kobe beef short rib. The gnocchi too. I also thought the wine pairing worked well. It was a great dining experience and it is one of my favorite restaurants.

Day three was spent uptown on Magazine St and then Tulane
Camillia Grill is always a must do. Burgers are still great.
Made another snow crab roll pit stop. This time at Sake Cafe. Good stuff.
Last dinner was at Cuvee. Service was great Loved the wine list and the room. I would probably rank Cuvee behind August and Vizard's on food alone. That said, I think W would rank it 1.

Wish I was still there and can't wait to get back. Thanks for all your advice.
