I have heard rumors via the local Taiwanese community that a branch of A&J Restaurant(otherwise known as Half Acre Garden) has opened in Raleigh. A&J is a small but celebrated chain of Taiwanese snack and noodle houses to be found in places like Washington D.C., Tokyo, and Beijing (so I've heard). I've been to the restaurant in Washington, which serves some of the best Chinese food I've had in the U.S. I recall a fabulous version of a knishe: mashed daikon in melting puff pastry. I recall also eating pig's ear, which, contrary to expectations, was completely delicious.
Can anyone confirm these tantalizing rumors? Has anyone been?
If the rumors prove true, our problems are solved. This is the place!
