inspired by zach's earlier thread, i dragged a few coworkers to toto's for lunch yesterday. we had a large mushroom, pepper, onion, and pepperoni (chosen by committee).
sadly, it didn't quite hold up to the lofty expectations i acquired from zach. but it wasn't bad. i liked the pepper topping in particular, as it was a blend of red and green, julienned and perhaps sauteed with onion? nice.
but the crust was just ok. the edge roll wasn't bad, with a crunchy exterior and light on the inside, but the undercrust was not crisp. a little tough and leathery actually, slightly reminiscent of domino's (ugh).
we didn't get any notable sauce either. i guess we have to order the garlic separately? too bad we missed that.
but the place has been around since 1932, so they must be doing something right.
