Having just returned from a driving trip through much of the Southwest and a particular obsession for tortilla soup I believe that I have found Nirvana: the Southwestern restaurant at the Camino Real in El Paso. Incorporating a rich and concentrated chicken stock along with heavy cream, fresh guacamole, french fried shoe string tortilla strips, this is an outstanding concentrated concoction equal to anything I've found elsewhere.
So good that after one bowl, without hesitation, I ordered a second. The only hesitation was before ordering the third and what the waiter might think of my gluttony and excess. Several seconds and yes, I had a THIRD bowl of tortilla soup at the Camino Real in El Paso.
To this day a memory that I will take to the nursing home!
