Tom Collins shortcut: San Pellegrino limonata

monopod | Jul 23, 201208:38 AM     6

I've been drinking Tom Collins this summer (2 oz gin, 1 oz lemon juice, tsp of superfine sugar, shaken with ice and topped with soda). It occurred to me the other day that San Pellegrino limonata - the lemon-flavored one - is basically a Tom Collins minus the gin, since it's a tart, not-too-sweet, very lemony soda. Mixed with some gin, it produces a credible Tom Collins in a flash. OK, maybe not exactly a Tom Collins, but very close and very delicious and very easy to bring with you (a six pack of limonata and a bottle of Gordon's and you've got yourself stocked for a long day at the beach or evening at the campsite).

Just thought I'd share...
