Thinking about Thanksgiving Dinner

Same 'ole, Same 'ole. Fah. For years now I've started out with some sort of fish beginning. Smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, trout, oysters, mussels, etc. Am becoming bored with this.

I LOVE turkey. It will be there. But how? Something new would be welcome. Have done the regular roasting, the brining, then roasting - cooking it on the grill isn't available due to apartment living. One of us loves dark, the other white - is it workable? Pieces? Jeeze, this just gets more difficult by the moment.

Stuffing. In or out? Bell's, now, seems necessary. But chestnuts, walnuts, pecans, no nuts? Fruit, dried or fresh? Brandy or not? Plain or fancy? Please help.

Side dishes: how may colors do you include? If I start out with my signature pumpkin soup with curry cream, am I allowed another squash?

And cranberry sauce. Is there really a reason for it? There must be some more ideas for this.

Any ideas would be more than welcome.

TIA
