It might be a little early to start thinking about this, but food is the one thing I like to plan ahead for. I'm looking for a (probably fresh) natural vegetarian fed turkey for Thanksgiving. I'd prefer free range and I'd prefer organically fed, but the only thing I'm a stickler about is no antibiotics, steriods, etc.
I was thinking I might get a kosher turkey, but I'm not sure where to go for that. Otherwise, I'd probably buy from Whole foods, but I'm wondering where all the chowhounds go for their holiday birds.
I've posted a link below to a story published a few years ago in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Citypages (sister to LAWeekly) about mass turkey production. I don't think much has changed since then.
PS. citypages.com seems to be down today, so i can't confirm if the link still works. if not, here's the URL to the google cache of the article
