Thai food in Paso Robles, finally

Just wanted to let people know that a Thai restaurant has just opened in Paso Robles. Basil is owned by the Thai Palace people in San Luis Obispo. I went for lunch the other day and was very pleased. The decor is nice, and obviously a lot of work was put into the look of the place, but it is pretty loud. When we first arrived, we had to shout to hear one another, and we could barely hear the waiter.

The menu is extensive, and they have a great lunch special: $7.95 and includes soup and salad. The entrees were plentiful (it is Paso Robles, after all, where food quality is often measured by weight, not taste) and fresh. I had the Param--sauteed spinach and chicken with curry peanut sauce. My husband had the Pad Thai special, and our friends had, um, I can't remember, but they liked their meals. While it wasn't the best Thai food I've ever had, it was tasty, the service was great (it's only been open 2 weeks), and the food was presented nicely and prepared with care. We'll be back for sure!
