The Tavern--Merion

Had dinner here with friends last Saturday night. Not a good time to try a restaurant for the
first time--it was packed with folks celebrating the holidays and a graduation--much too noisy, but
I don't that is typical for the place.

What struck me was the excellent preparation of the vegetables on the plates: not al dente, but
not overcooked, very fresh and tasty. Roasted potato strips that were yummy. All entrees delish--
reasonable prices--maybe $18-21 being typical; great Greek Lemon Chicken Soup; we didn't
have dessert.

It wasn't a Tavern at all, we've passed this place on Montgomery Ave. often. It was an old-fashioned kind of family restaurant--good food choices, not adventursome perhaps, but hard
to choose from among them. I imagine it would be quiet on week nights, maybe bustling at lunch, but I'd be glad to give them another try. I think this is the kind of place you could eat once or
twice a week and not be bored.

Relaxing, other than the noisy chatter on a Saturday night. Excellent warm service. Has this ever been mentioned recently on CH?
