Taqueria Los Pericos in San Leandro

Wendy Lai | Aug 27, 200211:42 PM

A co-worker took me to a taqueria on 14th Ave. today for lunch. I was pleasently surprised by Los Pericos.

This order-at-the-counter eatery had many of the ususal taqueria offerings, tacos, burritos, enchillaldas and chips and salsa. But it also had more authentic meat choices, beef cheeks, brain and toung as well tortas and menudo. My friend and I both ordered their soft tacos. Between us we had one chicken, one carnitas, one beef and something else I can't remember. Small soft corn tortillas were filled with juicy meats and pico de gallo. Everything was spicy, in a sneak up on you sort of way. A salsa bar on the side served up five different kind of fresh salsa and pickled veggies and raw radishes.

We ordered at the counter, was given a number and cups for our drinks. We pour our own drinks, got our own chips and salsa and sat down. Food came quickly and we ate quickly. I would definitly go back again and try their other menu items.
