I am a Tamale lover. I go to Nuevo Leon in Mexican Town quite often and have never had anything but GREAT tamales their from Sue and her mom. Their tamales are prepared in the northern style, which I do enjoy and miss from the street vendors in San Diego's east side. My question is... Does anyone know of Oaxacan style tamales in Mexican Town or the metro area. Oaxacan styleTamales= tamales made with a dencer masa, less lard, that are thin, usually a large square, and steamed in a banana leaf. Any input is welcome. I'm really craving this style of tamale.
