While I like the tacos from the red van next to Costco (La Villita) or other such mobile tacqueria outfits around the Triangle, I don't like standing around waiting for my food, not being able to wash up before eating, or not being able to sit down when I eat. I'm also worried about the sanitation of such outfits. Well, a nice tacqueria has opened on Roxboro Rd., about a half mile south of Walmart across from the fish market there called Tacqueria La Superior. Nothing fancy but it's clean and has new bathrooms. They sell tacos for $1.50 and burritos for $4.00. You can choose from al pastor, asada, chorizo, lengua, pollo, cabeza, and tripa. I tried one each of the first three. The pastor was awesome, the chorizo was good, quite spicy, the asada was okay (meat was rubbery). The tacos come with generous amounts of meat and two corn torillas so you're really getting to tacos for $1.50. They have a condiments bar with pico de gallo, cilanto, chopped onion, lime wedges, and two salsas (tomatillo and fire roasted chile) for dressing your tacos however you like. They have bottles of Coke and Jaritos on ice but I recommend the orchata (sweetened powdered rice drink with almond flavoring). The cashier spoke English well so don't let language intimidate you from trying this place.
