Clearly the star at the brand new Taqueria El Charrito Caminante is the cabrito (goat) taco. It's been so long since I had goat, I forgot how delicious it can be. Rich, juicy shredded meat topped with freshly sauteed radishes, parsley, and spring onions. The powerful aroma of roasted corn almost knocked me over when I unwrapped it from the foil. I make no claim to expertise on the tex-mex front, having found the scene in Washington to be depressing, plus I've never really traveled to places where tex-mex is king. Would love to hear how this stuff rates when compared to the 'real thing'.
Other offerings are a bodacious panes de gallina (a fat sub stuffed with marinated chicken, creamy cloe slaw, sliced egg, beet, radish, and tomato), pupusas -including one stuffed with herbs- burritos, grilled steaks, various asados, yuca con chicharron, and tamales.
This is located at 2710 Washington Blvd. in Arlington, between Rte. 50 and Pershing.
