after much debate and questioning of the chowhounds, bf and i ventured to table 8 last night to celebrate my birthday. i have to say, it did not disappoint....not one bit!
they seated us as soon as we arrived, and the service was impeccable the entire night. the dining room was comfortable and had cozy low lighting, but not so low that you couldn't read the menu. our waiter was so friendly, and happy to elaborate on any menu questions we had. we are totally lame and ordered the same dinner, but we were both very happy with our meals! both had:
sunchoke and pear soup- simple and comforting. creamy, but not too rich, with a subtle sweet undertone, and small chunks of pear floating around. topped with a goat cheese/herb crouton that was delicious.
main course: grilled kobi beef- beyond words. unreal flavor melted in our mouths. served with asparagus and mushrooms. so good.
after dinner, our waiter asked if we were up for dessert. when my boyfriend told him we had birthday cake waiting at home (buttercake bakery red velvet- always the best), the waiter was nice enough to bring a small plate with two gingersnaps and a candle! such a cute touch.
all in all, a great meal. we will definitely be back. great food, no attitude. big winner....thanks to all of you that recommended!
