Sushi Saito - why the hype?

Hi everyone

I have just moved out to Tokyo for two years and am spending my many jet-lagged hours reading this forum which has now left me with a list of places to try that I don't think I'll ever manage in my time here.

Please don't flame me for asking but can I ask what the hype around Sushi Saito is apart from its three Michelin star status? Or rather, why is it so divisive here?

It generally leads to some comments about how the "best" sushi is actually hidden elsewhere and that a few Western bloggers have overrated it. But by all accounts it appears very few people who write on this board have actually been there recently and the few people who have been rave about it. In addition (and I must admit I can't read Japanese so don't know exactly what the reviews themselves say) it has 266 reviews and tops Tabelog so I'm guessing locals must like it too?

Appreciate given what has been written it's highly unlikely I'll ever be able to go during my time here but please excuse my curiosity.
