I have been to Tomoe, Gari, Nobu, and many other small and big sushi places in the city. I have to say the best suhi I have had in New York is actually a little neighborhood place of mine. It is called Hiro and it is on 10th street between 3rd and 4th avenues. The masses have not discovered this place yet, but they are starting to. It has the freshest fish, cut to the perfect size, and at the right price. Now the only thing that outshines the fish is the list of appetizers. Aside from all the specials they always have, the standards on the menu are delicious. From the tempuras to the Kani Su, the place is the best. Quiet, but a star.
Try it - you will not be disappointed.
