Six of us met for brunch at Jar (see link to their web site for location, menu's et. al) yesterday morning. If you have not been since the remodel you will have to like the Jetson's look, (kind of like Encounter's at LAX) or this won't appeal to you.
Service was excellent without exception. We were on the early side, (10:30) but by the time we left it was pretty much filled up.
Two of us had the Lobster Benedict with two poached eggs, (I have never in my life seen two more beautifully poached, enormous eggs) on char sui bbq'd pork medallions with little pieces of lobster claw meat and a lobster bearnaise sauce and pea tendrils. It was delicious, especially after adding a little salt and pepper to the eggs.
Three orders of the pot roast hash that has a melange of two eggs, potatoes, onions, peppers and a side boat of what they call coffee gravy which was fine but a little went a long way.
One order of Eddy's Chilaquiles, which I did not taste but kept hearing moans of pleasure with each bite coming from that particular person and she raved about it afterwards so I have reason to believe it was good. (g)
With two Ramos Gin Fizzes, one Virgin Mary, (excellent spicy mix with plenty of horse radish, etc.) two coffee's, two Mexican coffee's and one chocolate lava cake with ice cream we were out the door for $155, plus tip.
I would recommend it and go back again anytime.
