Restaurants & Bars 10

Sunday Brunch

I will be in Austin for 5 days starting Sunday. I am staying Downtown at the Omni. I would appreciate any recommendations for a Sunday brunch. After looking at the boards I see that Maria’s Taco Xpress is a popular option for their gospel brunch. I also see Fonda San Miguel mentioned a lot, but that seems a bit expensive. I am definitely looking for a tex-mex type place. I will have a car so driving is not a problem, although walking distance from downtown would be great.

Speaking of downtown, most of the posts here indicate that Downtown is generally not the best place to find a good restaurant. Any one think differently?

And finally, I will be in town for 5 days, and although I have already gleaned a lot of helpful info from the boards (i.e. BBQ in Lockhart), I would love any other random suggestions (perhaps a bar walking distance from the Omni good for people watching, live music, etc.)

Thanks in advance and I will be sure to post some reviews when I get back.
