I went to Canoe tonight for the Summerlicious dinner. Was it worth the day spent trying to get reservations - not really.
The meal was not upto Canoe's regular standards - not that I expected it to be.
I should say that the service was very attentive. Given that they were extreamly busy and we had one of the last sittings that day (9:30 p.m.), I was very impressed.
I started with the casear salad. It was a little heavy on the vingar/lemon. But aside from that it was very good.
They ran out of the stribed bass (replaced with halibut), so I had the ravioli with mushrooms. It was okay, but a little heavy on the salt for my liking.
Dessert was a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream - yummy.
Add the wine and coffee, the bill was still $115 (for two)- not including tip. I would rather pass on Canoe for Summerlicious and just go there on a regular night. Even though it would still be more $$ I think it is well worth the added expense.
